Round Rock ISD High Schools Achieve Recognition on 2025 AP Honor Roll

All five comprehensive high schools within the Round Rock Independent School District (ISD) have earned prestigious recognition by being named to the 2025 AP® School Honor Roll. This accolade from the College Board highlights the district’s ongoing success and growth in its Advanced Placement (AP) programs.

According to Michelle Swain, Director of Gifted and Advanced Academics at Round Rock ISD, this recognition signifies not only increased participation in AP courses but also impressive student performance across all campuses. “The fact that we continue every year to grow in participation as well as performance and are seeing record numbers of students earn a three or higher is huge,” Swain stated. “Most districts are happy if they get 50% of their students earning a three or higher. Having all five of our comprehensive high schools recognized is a testament to how hard our schools have worked to inform students and parents about the benefits of advanced academic coursework and earning college credit before graduating high school.”

Outstanding Achievements by Individual Schools

Among the high schools, Westwood High School stood out by earning Platinum recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. The school reported that 80% of the Class of 2026 participated in at least one AP course before graduation. Furthermore, 72% of that class achieved college credit by scoring a three or higher on an AP exam. Notably, 42% of students in this cohort took at least five AP courses throughout their high school years, which included enrolling in at least one AP course as a freshman or sophomore.

In addition, Round Rock High School received Gold AP School Honor Roll status. The school facilitated participation for 70% of the Class of 2026 in AP courses, with 63% earning college credit through their exam scores. Additionally, 42% of students took five or more AP courses, including one class taken as a freshman or sophomore.

Meanwhile, McNeil High School was awarded Silver recognition, and both Cedar Ridge High School and Stony Point High School achieved Bronze status on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll. Overall, the district reported that 84% of eligible students registered for AP exams for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year.

Long-Term Benefits of AP Coursework

Swain highlighted the significant long-term impact of AP coursework on students’ readiness for college. “We know that students taking AP courses, whether they take the exam or not, are better prepared to handle the rigor of college classrooms and coursework,” she remarked. “By earning a three or higher on an AP exam, students save time and money in college while demonstrating they are ready for college-level coursework. For some students who may not have seen themselves attending a two- or four-year university, that opportunity can be transformative.”

This recognition underscores Round Rock ISD’s commitment to expanding access to rigorous academic opportunities, ensuring that students are well-prepared for success in college and beyond. The achievements of these schools illustrate the district’s dedication to fostering an educational environment where students can thrive academically and gain valuable skills for their future.
