San Marin’s Daniel Rolovich Named Player of the Year in Redwood Empire Football

San Marin High School quarterback Daniel Rolovich has been honored as the Adobe Player of the Year for the Redwood Empire Conference, marking a significant milestone as the first Marin player to receive this accolade. The recognition comes from coaches within the league, and the Marin Independent Journal has also named him its Player of the Year for the 2025 season.

This season, Rolovich led the Mustangs to an impressive 8-3 record, securing a spot in the North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs for the second consecutive year. Demonstrating his prowess as a dual-threat quarterback, he completed 65% of his passes for 1,930 yards and threw 18 touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed significantly on the ground, rushing for 731 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns.

Exceptional Performance Highlights

Rolovich’s standout performances included remarkable stretches where he accumulated 10 touchdowns across two games. In a decisive victory against Casa Grande, San Marin triumphed 45-3, followed by a 42-14 win over Ukiah. His efforts helped the Mustangs achieve a ranking as the No. 6 team in the NCS.

In the playoffs, San Marin faced a tough match against Cardinal Newman, a game that went into double overtime before they were eliminated with a score of 21-14.

Beyond Rolovich, several other players from San Marin received recognition in the all-league selections. Linebacker Daniel Gilmore was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Kordell Strane of Cardinal Newman. Additionally, cornerback Ryan Houlahan and linebacker Luke Saysette earned spots on the first team, while lineman Jackson Young was acknowledged for his contributions on both offense and defense.

Contributions from Other Local Schools

Marin Catholic also showcased outstanding talent this season, finishing second in the Adobe league. Co-captains Jarred Geissberger and Vince Tarantino played pivotal roles, with Geissberger named to the first team as a running back. Tarantino received the distinction of Lineman of the Year. Geissberger’s notable performances included a crucial kickoff return against San Marin during the Wildcats’ first night game under the lights.

The Redwood team also made its mark with Dylan McGrath, recognized as one of the league’s top two-way players, earning first-team nods in both offense and defense. Tam High School saw standout performances from first-team receivers Timo Ural and Cole Kramlich, while kicker David Keane was named Specialist of the Year.

San Rafael had a remarkable season as well, finishing second in their league. Quarterback Lachlan Royston was named Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 2,802 yards and 36 touchdowns against only seven interceptions. His exceptional partnership with receiver Will Healy, who recorded 16 touchdowns, propelled the Bulldogs to impressive victories.

A number of other players across the league also received accolades, including Gio Castaing of Novato, who was recognized for his dual-threat capability as a running back and linebacker.

As the 2025 football season concluded, the achievements of players like Rolovich and their contributions to their teams highlighted the depth of talent in the Redwood Empire Conference, setting a high standard for the years to come.
