The Cluttered Closet Boutique in Centralia is set to celebrate its expansion with a grand reopening ceremony on January 7, 2024, at noon. Originally scheduled for December 10, the event was postponed due to severe flooding in the area. The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce announced the rescheduled ceremony, inviting the public to attend the celebration at the boutique’s new address: 529 N. Tower.
After more than two years of meticulous inventory management and renovations, owner Madison Horn and her mother, Michele Cope, are eager to showcase their efforts. The boutique transitioned from its previous location as a tenant of Yard Birds and underwent significant changes, including a complete inventory overhaul. As Horn noted, “We cleared out 5,000 items in the store and another 10,000 items in storage.”
From Concept to Boutique
The journey to establish The Cluttered Closet Boutique began with a shared vision between Horn and Cope. Inspired by both whim and opportunity, the mother-daughter duo explored launching a business together. In 2022, they were approached by the previous owner of the shop about acquiring it, which included thousands of items that needed sorting.
Since then, the business has relocated twice, each move allowing for an expansion into larger spaces. The current location on North Tower provides ample room for growth and showcases a blend of the shop’s traditional pink decor alongside the new owners’ personal touches. One of the first significant changes was the rebranding to The Cluttered Closet Boutique, along with a fresh slogan, “Wear the Best for Less,” highlighting their commitment to offering quality fashion at accessible prices.
Community Engagement and Local Artistry
The boutique not only features a diverse collection of clothing but also supports local artisans. Customers can discover works from 10 local artists, offering handcrafted items such as jewelry, skincare products, and body oils. With clothing prices ranging from $2 for T-shirts to $60 for vintage and premium pieces, the store caters to a variety of shoppers.
In addition to regular offerings, The Cluttered Closet Boutique features weekend sales, monthly discounts, and a loyalty program. The store also welcomes donations of clothing and accessories, incentivizing donors with a 30% discount on purchases for a two-week period. Horn emphasized the importance of cleanliness, stating, “We clean everything.”
The grand reopening ceremony on January 7 will kick off with special sales starting at 10:30 a.m. and running until 1 p.m. This event serves as an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate local business milestones. The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce organizes such ceremonies without requiring chamber membership for participation.
