UNICEF Celebrates 75 Years with Major Event at ICA on Nov. 30

UNICEF is set to commemorate its 75th anniversary with a significant in-person celebration at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) on November 30, 2023. This event will take place alongside similar celebrations across the United States, underscoring the agency’s commitment to providing essential care to children in nearly 200 countries.

In addition to the main event in Boston, festivities will unfold in cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual streaming option will be available. The funds raised during these events will support UNICEF’s ongoing humanitarian initiatives, furthering its mission to improve the lives of children worldwide.

Documentary Premiere and Special Guests

A highlight of the evening will be the premiere of a documentary by Oscar-nominated director Ben Proudfoot. This film chronicles UNICEF’s history and its current efforts, particularly its focus on the global distribution of vaccines.

“We are thrilled to have the Boston community and supporters from around the United States come together on Giving Tuesday to rejoice in UNICEF’s milestone 75-year anniversary and celebrate our lifesaving work,” stated Laura Driscoll, Director of Philanthropy for the Northeast Region at UNICEF USA. She emphasized the importance of the organization’s work in achieving equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines globally and fostering a better future for children.

The event, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, boasts an impressive roster of honorary chairs, including prominent figures such as David Beckham, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. These celebrities lend their voices to UNICEF’s cause, highlighting the critical need for support in the ongoing fight for child welfare.
