A federal judge ruled that Musk must participate in a deposition related to a lawsuit centered on actions taken during his tenure as head of DOGE, which was active during the administration of former President Donald Trump.
The ruling, issued by U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang, dismissed arguments from Musk’s legal team aimed at preventing him from being questioned. In an eight-page decision released on October 17, 2023, Judge Chuang stated that Musk does not qualify for protection typically afforded to high-level government officials under the “apex doctrine.” This legal principle often shields senior officials from being compelled to testify unless there are compelling reasons.
