Octillion Transforms EV Battery Manufacturing with Solar Power in India

California-based Octillion Power Systems has successfully converted its manufacturing facility in Pune, India, to operate entirely on solar energy. This milestone, announced on December 2, 2025, aligns with Octillion’s commitment to sustainability throughout the lifecycle of its electric vehicle (EV) battery systems. With this initiative, the Pune factory is now capable of producing 545MWh of renewable energy annually, achieving 100% carbon neutrality.

The Pune facility, inaugurated in June 2023, plays a crucial role in manufacturing next-generation battery systems for India’s rapidly growing automotive market. The conversion to solar energy, which began in June 2024 and reached full operational status by July 2025, represents a significant step in Octillion’s broader sustainability initiative. The facility spans approximately 8,200 square meters, equivalent to the size of two football pitches, and generates a total of 3GWh of battery capacity each year.

Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion, emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating, “India’s electric vehicle market is accelerating rapidly, and we’re committed to ensuring this growth is truly sustainable.” He added, “By converting our manufacturing to solar power, we’re closing the loop—producing the clean energy storage solutions of tomorrow, using clean energy today.” Octillion aims to make all its facilities in India carbon neutral by 2027.

The solar installation at the Pune facility will meet all of its power requirements, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President at Octillion, highlighted the company’s strategic position in India’s electric vehicle sector. “With three large-scale battery manufacturing facilities in India, two in Pune and one in Gujarat, Octillion is uniquely positioned to serve the fast-growing needs of India’s electric vehicle sector; in volume, cost, and convenience,” he stated.

Octillion has established a robust supply chain over the past decade, ensuring that the Indian automotive sector has reliable access to high-quality battery systems. The company’s commitment to sustainability not only enhances its operational efficiency but also positions it as a leader in the transition to cleaner transportation solutions.

Further reflecting its dedication to environmental responsibility, Octillion aims to advance its efforts globally by providing innovative and safe battery systems that minimize ecological impact. The achievement in Pune marks the first of Octillion’s factories to transition fully to solar energy, paving the way for future sustainability initiatives across its operations.

Octillion, headquartered in Richmond, California, is recognized as a Tier 1 supplier of advanced high-density energy storage systems. With ten manufacturing facilities worldwide, the company has delivered over 2 million EV batteries, contributing to 33 billion kilometers driven on its systems and over 16.55GWh of energy delivered in 2024.
