Will Cooper, Jr., President and CEO of WNC, has been appointed as the new Chairman of BUILD-PAC, the political action committee affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). His appointment was announced on March 2, 2026, following his installation during the 2026 International Builders’ Show held in Orlando, Florida, on February 18.
In his new role, Cooper will lead BUILD-PAC’s Board of Trustees, which comprises over 100 members representing states across the United States. The committee focuses on electing candidates who support pro-housing and pro-business initiatives, playing a crucial role in advocating for the home building industry’s priorities on Capitol Hill.
“I am honored to be installed as the 2026 Chairman of BUILD-PAC, one of the most influential political organizations in housing,” Cooper stated. His involvement with BUILD-PAC spans over a decade, during which he has served as a Trustee. He emphasized the importance of political engagement in shaping housing policy, declaring, “Elections matter and have a lasting impact on housing policy and home building. That’s why it is so important for NAHB and the entire industry to be engaged in the political process every step of the way.”
As Chairman, Cooper’s strategic leadership will be vital in enhancing BUILD-PAC’s advocacy efforts, ensuring effective engagement with NAHB members, stakeholders, and federal policymakers. His tenure will last until the next International Builders’ Show in 2027.
Beyond his responsibilities at BUILD-PAC, Cooper continues to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of WNC, guiding the overall business strategy for the organization. WNC has played a significant role in the affordable housing sector, having acquired more than $21.5 billion in properties since its founding in 1971. The company has created and preserved over 120,000 units across 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands.
Cooper is also involved with Community Preservation Partners, Preservation Equity Fund Advisors, and the Cooper Housing Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing homelessness in America. His leadership in these various capacities is expected to strengthen BUILD-PAC’s influence within the home building community.
The announcement of Cooper’s appointment highlights WNC’s commitment to advancing housing initiatives and its dedication to engaging with political processes that impact the industry.
