Cardinals Face Uncertainty Over Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr.

The status of Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. remains uncertain ahead of their game against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. Clarity regarding their participation is expected following the release of the team’s injury report on Friday afternoon.

During a press conference on Friday, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon provided minimal insight into the situation. He noted that Murray, who is dealing with a foot injury, could remain a game-time decision throughout the weekend. Last week, the Cardinals waited until Saturday evening to announce that Murray would not play against the Indianapolis Colts due to the same injury he sustained during a previous matchup against the Tennessee Titans. When asked if a similar situation might unfold again, Gannon simply stated, “See how it goes.”

In Murray’s absence, veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett is preparing to start once more. Brissett had a commendable performance in the 31-27 loss to the Colts, completing 27 of 44 passes for 320 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Prior to last week’s game, Murray had not missed a contest since sitting out the first nine games of the 2023 season while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL. In the five games he has played this season, Murray completed 68.3% of his passes for 962 yards, with six touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also contributed on the ground, rushing for 173 yards and one touchdown.

Harrison, who is currently in the concussion protocol after being injured against the Colts, is also a significant concern for the team. Gannon indicated that Harrison’s availability would depend entirely on the protocol’s guidelines, stating, “Whatever the protocol says, that’s what he’ll do.” This season, Harrison has recorded 22 receptions for 338 yards and two touchdowns.

In addition to Murray and Harrison, the Cardinals will also be without running back Emari Demercado, who is sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained during the game against Indianapolis. As the team prepares for the Packers, the health of its key players will be crucial for their chances of success.
