The ABAC women’s basketball team encountered a challenging match against the Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies on November 18, 2025, resulting in a decisive 93-53 defeat. The loss marked a difficult moment for the Fillies, who now hold a record of 1-3 in the season.
From the onset, the Fillies struggled to maintain momentum. After an initial layup by Taylor Frazier, the team quickly fell behind as the Grizzlies launched a 14-3 run. This early surge allowed Georgia Gwinnett to establish a significant lead, finishing the first quarter with a score of 24-13.
In the second quarter, the Fillies faced further difficulties. The Grizzlies continued their offensive push, outscoring ABAC 15-3 in the first half of the period. By halftime, the Fillies found themselves trailing 45-23, facing a daunting 22-point deficit.
Despite a brief resurgence in the third quarter, where ABAC managed to cut the lead to 18 points with a 7-3 run, the Grizzlies quickly regained control. They dominated the remainder of the quarter, outscoring the Fillies 17-7 and extending their lead to as much as 46 points in the fourth quarter. Although ABAC closed the game with an 8-2 run, the final score stood at 93-53 in favor of Georgia Gwinnett.
The Fillies struggled offensively throughout the game, shooting just 19 of 64 from the field, including 9 of 29 from three-point range. In contrast, the Grizzlies demonstrated a strong offensive performance, hitting 34 of 79 shots and successfully sinking 21 three-pointers out of 47 attempts.
There were some bright spots for the Fillies. Shakiria Chaney led the team in scoring with 12 points, contributing eight rebounds and three steals. Dailey Jefferson also performed well, achieving a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Looking ahead, the Fillies are set to return to the court on November 22, 2025, when they face the Thomas University Night Hawks in Thomasville for their conference opener. This matchup presents an opportunity for ABAC to rebound and improve their season standing.
