50 Cent Invests $124 Million in Louisiana Production Studios

Following the success of Netflix’s documentary series “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set to invest $124 million in a new production campus in Shreveport, Louisiana. The announcement, made by his company, G-Unit Film & Television, reveals plans to develop three production venues in the northern Louisiana city.

The new facilities are projected to generate an economic impact of nearly $19 billion and create over 6,000 jobs across the state, according to an independent economic impact study commissioned by G-Unit. The project will involve significant renovations of former facilities owned by Stageworks and Millennium Studios, alongside the construction of a dome-like immersive venue and a new park.

Investment and Economic Growth

The Louisiana Economic Development office announced that the state will provide $50 million in performance-based funding to support the infrastructure at these sites. Jackson expressed his commitment to revitalizing downtown Shreveport, stating, “By reinvesting in downtown Shreveport and upgrading existing assets to create state-of-the-art entertainment and production facilities, we are creating jobs, inspiring hope, attracting new productions, and giving the entire entertainment industry a reason to build their futures right here.”

Jackson aims to establish Northwest Louisiana as a premier destination for film, music, and live entertainment on a national scale, emphasizing that “All Roads Lead to Shreveport.” He initially revealed plans for the studios approximately two years ago and secured a long-term lease with the city last year.

Background and Future Projects

Born in New York, Jackson has worked closely with local and state officials to enhance economic growth and tourism in Louisiana. He founded G-Unit Film & Television in 2005, and the company has produced content for major streaming platforms and networks such as ABC, BET+, Netflix, and Hulu. Notable projects include the acclaimed Starz series “Power,” which Jackson produced, directed, and co-starred in, along with its numerous spinoffs.

In recent months, G-Unit achieved significant success with “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” a four-part docuseries that explores Sean “Diddy” Combs and the allegations surrounding his Bad Boy Entertainment empire. The docuseries debuted at No. 1 on Netflix in over 50 countries and garnered 40 million views globally within the first two weeks of its release. As Jackson continues to expand G-Unit’s portfolio, the studio is in production on the original boxing drama “Fightland” for Starz and is also developing “Hip Hop Cop,” a Hulu series based on Ron Stallworth’s non-fiction work, “The Gangs of Zion.”

Through this investment, Jackson not only aims to reinforce his influence in the entertainment industry but also to contribute to the economic landscape of Louisiana, creating opportunities for local talent and attracting national productions.
