UPDATE: A tense four-hour standoff in Summit County ended with the arrest of a 45-year-old Lakewood woman on multiple felony charges. The incident unfolded on February 23 around 12:20 p.m. near the gated Ptarmigan Ranch neighborhood, triggering a significant law enforcement response.
Authorities report that the standoff began after a resident witnessed the woman loading a magazine of a 9mm handgun and making threatening gestures towards their home. When deputies arrived, she refused to leave her vehicle and fled, colliding with a patrol car before crashing into an irrigation ditch.
Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons stated, “The deputies and officers on scene were ready for anything. They used their training, experience, and the technology and equipment available to them.” The law enforcement team included officers from Dillon-Keystone, Silverthorne, Frisco, and Breckenridge, who established a perimeter while the Systemwide Mental Assessment Response Team was called in to assist.
