Boulder County Seeks Urgent Public Input on Ag Manager Role

UPDATE: Boulder County is urgently seeking public input on the hiring of an Agricultural Resources Division Manager, a critical role overseeing 26,000 acres of the county’s agricultural land. The Parks & Open Space department is not just filling a vacancy; they’re inviting residents to help shape the future of this position by providing insights on the essential responsibilities and expertise required.

The recruitment process has attracted a large pool of over 70 candidates, with Human Resources narrowing the field to those who meet the stringent qualifications. Currently, more than 50 hopefuls are set to undergo a blind screening process, focusing on evaluating their agricultural experience, leadership capabilities, and collaboration history with community stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also need a proven track record in budget management, strategic planning, and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the agricultural sector.

To ensure that community voices are heard, Boulder County has launched a public survey. This feedback will directly inform the development of interview questions and the final evaluation of candidates. Residents eager to influence the hiring process can participate by visiting boco.org/AgManager before the deadline of November 30.

For those with questions about the role or the Agricultural Resources Division, inquiries can be directed to Land Stewardship Deputy Director Stefan Reinold via email at [email protected] or by calling (303) 678-6202.

This initiative represents a unique opportunity for Boulder County residents to contribute to the vital management of local agricultural resources, ensuring that the selected candidate aligns with the community’s needs and values.
