UPDATE: The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs have just secured their eighth consecutive victory, dominating UMary with an 80-65 win Saturday at Romano Gym. This latest triumph solidifies UMD’s impressive record of 9-2 overall and 7-0 in the NSIC, showcasing their strong performance this season.

From the opening tip-off, the Bulldogs established control of the game, racing to a swift 13-2 lead fueled by outstanding contributions from Lexi Karge and Grace Counts. A stunning shooting performance saw UMD start the game with an astonishing 11-of-13 shooting effort, allowing them to build a commanding 25-8 lead by the end of the first quarter, finishing the frame at 29-13.

The Bulldogs continued their offensive onslaught in the second quarter, with Karge and Counts combining for 27 points by halftime. The duo dominated the boards, with Karge hitting 7-of-8 shots (87.5%) and Counts making 6-of-7 (85.7%), leading UMD to a staggering 52-28 halftime advantage. The team’s efficiency was evident, finishing the half at 24-of-36 (66.7%) shooting and owning a remarkable 42-12 lead in points in the paint.

Despite a valiant effort from UMary, who rallied in the third quarter sinking 6-of-7 from beyond the arc, the Bulldogs maintained their composure. NSIC leading scorer Bergen Kinnebrew sparked a brief comeback for the Marauders with 13 third-quarter points, but UMD quickly regained their footing, pushing the lead back to 14 points to start the fourth quarter.

Throughout the final frame, the Bulldogs kept their lead intact, ultimately finishing with a commanding 60-26 advantage in points scored in the paint. Karge led the scoring with 17 points, while Myra Moorjani, Claire Bjorge, Grace Counts, and Ashley Fritz all contributed significantly, finishing in double figures with 13 points each for Moorjani and Bjorge, and 12 for Counts and Fritz.
