Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Parade Kicks Off Now!

UPDATE: The Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival and Parade has officially kicked off in Chicago, marking its 34th year of dazzling festivities. This year’s spectacular event is set to illuminate North Michigan Avenue with one million lights, attracting up to one million attendees as the city welcomes the holiday season!

The excitement began today with a free concert by Plain White T’s at 1 p.m., followed by the much-anticipated parade featuring beloved characters Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse from Walt Disney World Resort. The parade is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., proceeding south on North Michigan Avenue from Oak Street to Wacker Drive.

Attendees are encouraged to wear festive holiday sweaters as part of an attempt to break the record for the most worn at a parade. The festival also features a variety of floats, giant helium balloons, marching bands, and celebrity appearances. Notably, DJ White Shadow, a GRAMMY-winning producer and Chicago native, will debut a special Chicago-themed float.

As the largest evening parade in the U.S. and the third-largest nationwide, the festival promises an unforgettable experience filled with joy and holiday spirit. The illuminating ceremony of over 200 trees along Michigan Avenue officially marks the start of the holiday season in Chicago, throughout Illinois, and across the nation.

A spectacular fireworks display is set to follow, lighting up the North Michigan Avenue skyline and the Chicago River. For those unable to attend in person, ABC7 will air a special broadcast of the parade on Sunday, November 23, at 6 p.m.
