Community Rallies to Raise $25,000 for Stewartville Shooting Victims

UPDATE: The Stewartville community is urgently coming together, raising over $25,000 for families affected by a devastating shooting incident. A GoFundMe campaign initiated by the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club has surpassed its initial goal of $22,000 as of late Sunday evening, highlighting the community’s compassion and support during this tragic time.

The shooting occurred early on December 12, 2025, at around 5 a.m. in the parking lot of Stewartville High School, just before the school’s wrestling team was set to depart for a meet in Grand Forks, North Dakota. An adult male was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, while a student sustained critical injuries. The identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed as authorities continue their investigation.

In a heartfelt statement posted on Facebook, the Stewartville Wrestling Booster Club expressed their sorrow:

“Our hearts are with the victims, their families, friends, coaches, and everyone affected. The wrestling community has always been built on strength, unity, and resilience. In moments like this, we are reminded that those values go far beyond the mat.”

The community’s response has been immediate and robust. Donations are being accepted not only online but also in person at any Eagle Rock Bank branch, where contributions can be made to the “Stewartville Wrestling Benefit Account.” Local business Full Court Custom Apparel Inc. is contributing by donating 100% of shirt sales proceeds to the families impacted by the tragedy.

Support has extended beyond Stewartville, with wrestling programs from Dover-Eyota, Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Century, and Mayo donating hundreds of dollars to the cause. The Clash National Wrestling Duals also stepped in, providing a generous donation of $1,000.

As the community continues to rally support, a press conference is scheduled for Monday to provide further details about the incident. Authorities, including Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, indicated that they are still piecing together the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

The outpouring of support reflects the deep connections within the Stewartville community, as individuals and families come together in this time of grief. The funds raised will go directly to support the families most affected, showcasing the community’s commitment to standing together in the face of tragedy.
