UPDATE: Durcon has officially broken ground on a significant $4.2 million expansion at its manufacturing campus in Taylor, Texas. This urgent initiative will add 32,000 square feet of space, modernizing production capabilities and introducing next-generation fabrication technology crucial for meeting escalating demand for chemical-resistant lab surfaces and sinks.
The company, operating at 206 Allison Drive for more than four decades, emphasized that this expansion marks the largest capital investment in its history, according to a press release from the Taylor Economic Development Corporation. The project is a pivotal move to support the growing industrial landscape in the area, further enhancing Taylor’s reputation as a manufacturing hub.
Matthew Solomon, Durcon’s marketing manager, stated, “This expansion is a major investment in the future of Taylor and surrounding area.” He highlighted that the new facility will be outfitted with “cutting-edge fabrication machinery” and upgraded software, aimed at improving product consistency and operational reliability.
With the current manufacturing footprint at approximately 130,000 square feet across 14 acres, this expansion is set to significantly boost production capacity. The upgrade is particularly timely as demand surges from university, industrial, and medical lab sectors.
Ron Ubertini, Global Vice President of Wilsonart and Durcon, described the project as “the start of a new chapter” for the Taylor plant, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the local workforce and the surrounding community.
This development aligns with a broader industrial surge in Taylor, driven by substantial projects like Samsung’s multibillion-dollar semiconductor campus, which was initially announced as a $17 billion investment. Local economic development leaders indicate that these expansions not only enhance manufacturing capabilities but also foster a network of suppliers, contractors, and skilled jobs throughout Williamson County.
As the expansion progresses, Durcon has not yet disclosed a specific completion date. However, the company assures that existing operations will continue uninterrupted during the upgrade process. The excitement surrounding this project underscores the growing industrial cluster in the region, making it a focal point for economic development.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as Durcon leads the charge in reshaping the manufacturing landscape in Taylor.
