Former Texas Assistant DA Charged in Urgent Hit-and-Run Incident

BREAKING: A former Liberty County Assistant District Attorney, Mark A. Boemio, is facing serious charges following an alleged hit-and-run incident in Montgomery County, Texas. The incident occurred in late October 2023, and has sent shockwaves through the community as details emerge about Boemio’s actions immediately following the crash.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) crash report, Boemio was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision and fled the scene without providing necessary information. This shocking development raises questions about accountability and the legal obligations of those who are sworn to uphold the law.

Victims Kyle and Emily Hicks, who were traveling with their children at the time, described the harrowing experience. “We were driving home normally when someone smashed into the passenger side of our vehicle,” Emily recounted. She witnessed Boemio exit his vehicle after the crash but claimed he ignored her inquiries about his well-being. “I notified first responders that he might need help. Suddenly, nobody could find him,” she said, highlighting the chaos of the moment.

In an official statement, Liberty County District Attorney Jennifer Bergman confirmed Boemio’s departure from the office, stating, “This is an unfortunate situation, and while we are disappointed to learn of these allegations, we trust that the judicial process will proceed appropriately in Montgomery County.”

The Hicks family, who were unaware of Boemio’s former position as a prosecutor until after the incident, expressed their disbelief. “Finding out who he is is kind of crazy, considering he knows the law,” Emily stated. This incident has compounded their stress, as they are currently dealing with the recent diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease for one of their daughters. “We didn’t think we would struggle to get to these appointments we’ve been trying to schedule for months,” she added.

While the Hicks family left the crash scene with minor injuries, they are still grappling with the ongoing impact of the incident, including the loss of their only vehicle. “It’s hard to plan, and it feels like we’re standing still at this moment,” Kyle said, emphasizing the emotional toll this has taken on their daily lives.

As of now, Boemio’s name has not appeared on the Montgomery County Jail roster. ABC13 has reached out to him for comment but has not yet received a response. This case continues to develop, with many awaiting further updates on the legal proceedings against Boemio.
