URGENT UPDATE: Free Thanksgiving meals are being offered across Bangor and northeastern Maine this Thursday, providing a warm holiday meal for those in need. With multiple locations ready to serve, residents are encouraged to take advantage of these community efforts.
Meals will be provided at several venues, starting with the Hammond St Congregational Church located at 28 High St. The doors will open at noon, with meals served from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Mansion Church at 96 Center St. will also host a meal from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In Dexter, the Gatherings at 4 Main St. will offer a plant-based meal from noon to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, the VFW Post 4298 at 20 Cedar St. will provide meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Moving to Dover-Foxcroft, the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church at 824 W. Main St. will serve meals starting at noon. In Ellsworth, the Conscious Café in partnership with Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents in Hermon can visit the Lynde Lodge at 2500 Route 2 for meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Lastly, the Christ Church of Faith in Old Town will serve meals at 2 p.m. and the Searsport Apostolic Church will be open for meals at 5 p.m.
This initiative is a vital community effort to ensure that everyone can enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal. Local churches and organizations are stepping up to provide nourishment and comfort to those who might otherwise be alone or struggling during the holiday season.
