URGENT UPDATE: The 10th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is set to kick off at the Boyertown Community Park this Thursday, November 27, 2023, at 8 a.m. Join the fun with family and friends in either the 5K Run or the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. This beloved local tradition attracted more than 900 participants last year, and the Wellness Council of Boyertown is excited to welcome even more this year.
The Turkey Trot is not just a race; it’s a chance for the community to reconnect. Many who grew up in the area return home for the holidays, making this event a perfect opportunity to see old friends and classmates. The Wellness Council emphasizes the importance of community gatherings during this festive season.
Participants will compete for awards, including the top overall male and female finishers, as well as prizes for the top three winners in multiple age brackets for the 5K race. Additional accolades will be given for the largest family and the person who traveled the farthest to attend. Everyone who pre-registers can look forward to exciting giveaways, including gift baskets and certificates from local businesses.
All runners will receive a customized participation medal and race swag, enhancing the festive spirit of the day. The Turkey Trot honors the memory of Clifford Reigner, a dedicated sports enthusiast and supporter of the Boyertown community. Reigner was instrumental in promoting local sports and was a key figure in the development of Boyertown’s sports facilities.
The Wellness Council is still seeking sponsors from businesses, nonprofits, and individuals to support this community-focused event. All proceeds will directly benefit local health and wellness programs, reinforcing the event’s commitment to community well-being.
Registration is open now, with fees set at $35 for the 5K and $25 for the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk. Discounts are available for children aged 12 and under, with fees at $20. Participants can register and check in on the day of the event at 417 S. Madison St., Boyertown.
