UPDATE: An urgent legal battle is unfolding as Ellen Michaels, attorney for former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, announced today her intention to have serious charges against him dismissed. The allegations include felony home invasion and stalking, stemming from an incident on December 10 when Moore allegedly entered a woman’s apartment and threatened self-harm, blaming her for his job loss that same day.
Moore, who was fired following revelations of a personal relationship with the woman—a member of the football staff—has pleaded not guilty to the charges. In a hearing held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Michaels argued that the arrest warrant was based on “false and misleading statements presented as facts,” asserting confidence that “the truth will come out in court under oath where it belongs.”
Michaels filed a motion to quash the arrest warrant and emphasized that without the disputed statements, “there would be no probable cause for these charges.” The specifics of these statements remain unclear, as reporters were directed to a court filing that was not immediately available.
“My blood is on your hands,” Moore allegedly told the woman involved, according to Washtenaw County assistant prosecutor Kati Rezmierski.
Moore, 39, is currently required to wear a tracking device while free on bond. He attended the court hearing alongside his wife, Kelli Moore, but chose not to comment. The judge, Cedric Simpson, scheduled the next hearing for February 17.
