Logan Paul’s Pikachu Card Fetches $16.5M at Auction, Shatters Records

BREAKING: Logan Paul has just made headlines by selling his rare Pikachu Illustrator card for an astonishing $16.5 million at auction. This monumental sale took place early Monday, closing at 1:14 am ET, and has set a new record in the collectibles market.

The winning bidder is AJ Scaramucci, founder of Solari Capital and son of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci. The auction was conducted by Goldin Auctions, which described the card as “one of the Holy Grails of the collectibles industry.”

In a live stream following the auction, Scaramucci expressed his grand ambitions: “The real story is that I’m on a planetary treasure hunt. I’m planning to buy a T. rex dinosaur fossil, the Declaration of Independence, and I’m not stopping there.” Paul’s reaction was equally enthusiastic, declaring, “Bro, that is so epic.”

This extraordinary card is one of only 41 ever distributed and the only one graded at the highest quality by collectibles company PSA. Paul had previously purchased the card for $5.275 million in July 2021, marking a staggering profit from this sale.

Also noteworthy is the diamond-encrusted chain that accompanied the card, appraised at $75,000. Paul famously wore the card during his WWE debut at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, further enhancing its celebrity status.

In an emotional farewell posted on Instagram, Paul wrote, “Goodbye my friend 😢 What a privilege it’s been to be the owner of the greatest collectible in the world.”

The market for Pokémon cards has surged dramatically in recent years, with collectors, particularly among Gen Z, increasingly investing in rare cards. Some are even shifting their investment strategies from stocks to collectibles, underscoring a significant cultural shift.

This sale not only highlights the growing interest in collectibles but also sets a new benchmark for what these items can command. As the excitement surrounding Pokémon cards continues to rise, all eyes will be on how this trend evolves in the coming months.
