Lorraine F. Lease, 94, Passes Away Peacefully in Bethlehem

UPDATE: Lorraine F. Lease, a beloved educator and community volunteer, has passed away at the age of 94 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on January 9, 2026. Her peaceful departure marks the end of a long and impactful life dedicated to teaching and service.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine was a cherished wife of the late George M. Lease, who predeceased her in February 2003. With a passion for education, she obtained her teaching degree from Kutztown University and a Master’s degree in Education from Lehigh University, dedicating over 30 years to teaching, including 20 years in the Bethlehem Area School District.

Lorraine’s retirement was filled with adventures, including travel, tennis, golf, and skiing. Known for her vibrant spirit, she was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and sang with the Moravian Village chorus. Her community involvement was extensive; she volunteered for organizations like Meals on Wheels, the Allentown Art Museum, and Cops n’ Kids.

She is survived by her sisters, Althea Lazun of Bethlehem and Joyce Hess of North Carolina, along with stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier, and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, totaling 6 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and 6 step great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Central Moravian Chapel. Following this, a private family inurnment will take place at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
