Mary A. Yurasits, 94, Passes Away; Services Scheduled January 17

BREAKING: Mary A. Yurasits, aged 94, has passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the Fellowship Community in Whitehall, marking a profound loss for her family and community. Born on November 6, 1931, in Kreidersville, Yurasits was a beloved figure known for her dedication to family and service.

Yurasits was the widow of John Yurasits, who predeceased her in 2024. A graduate of Northampton High School, she was an active member of the school’s Eight Balls and later worked as a secretary at the Novagratz Tax Office for many years. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her longstanding membership at the Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton.

Survived by her daughters Lorene Kahler (Randy), Rochelle Reice (Richard), and Sharon Urbanczuk (Roman), as well as her son Gary (Sherri), Yurasits leaves behind a legacy of love through her 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son John and two grandchildren, highlighting the family’s deep roots in the community.

Calling hours are set for Saturday, January 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the church located at 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. The Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being managed by the Reichel Funeral Home in Northampton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Mary, emphasizing the family’s desire to honor her legacy through continued support for important causes.
