UPDATE: The newly renovated Lānaʻi Fifth Street Courts in Maui County are officially reopening today, providing residents with enhanced facilities for multiple sports. The County of Maui’s Department of Parks and Recreation just announced this exciting upgrade, designed to elevate community recreation and support activities like pickleball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball.
The renovations, which began in late January 2023, included a complete resurfacing of the courts, installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system to extend playing hours, and the addition of ADA-compliant amenities. This modernized facility aims to ensure that Lānaʻi residents have access to safe and high-quality recreational options.
The upgraded lighting system replaces a previous setup that had been out of service since 2014, allowing matches to take place during early mornings and evenings. Alongside this, the courts have received new fencing, windscreens, and essential sports equipment, including nets for pickleball and tennis, as well as hoops and backboards for basketball.
Additionally, the facility now features an ADA-accessible water fountain equipped with a water bottle refill station, further enhancing usability for all community members. This investment in local recreation not only boosts the availability of sports facilities but also fosters community engagement and physical health.
Residents are encouraged to explore the newly refurbished Lānaʻi Fifth Street Courts and take advantage of the diverse sporting opportunities available.
