UPDATE: The highly anticipated new Kia Seltos has just been unveiled in South Korea, boasting significant upgrades and a hybrid variant set to launch in 2026. This expansion of features aims to enhance the subcompact SUV’s appeal while keeping it affordable, starting at just $23,690.
Kia is injecting some of the Telluride’s magic into the new Seltos, which is designed to compete fiercely in the small SUV market. The model, expected to be badged as a 2027 version in the United States, is projected to sell 430,000 units annually, building on the success of its predecessor, which sold 2 million units globally over five years.
The new Seltos will grow in size, measuring 174.4 inches in length with a wheelbase of 105.9 inches, providing more passenger and cargo space. While Kia has not yet detailed exact dimensions for U.S. standards, the vehicle’s width increases by 1.1 inches, and height decreases by 0.6 inches, creating a sportier profile.
With an array of new features, including a state-of-the-art ChatGPT-powered virtual assistant for navigation, the Seltos is set to enhance connectivity and driver experience. The hybrid model will join a lineup featuring three gasoline engines generating between 149 and 193 horsepower, complemented by various transmission options.
Kia is keen to cater to diverse markets, offering everything from a manual transmission to a 12-inch head-up display in different regions. Notably, the U.S. market will likely receive the high-tech features while forgoing the manual gearbox.
The Seltos will also be assembled in India, South Korea, and China, marking its first entry into the European market. Customer feedback has driven the addition of two new trim levels: the sporty GT-Line and rugged X-Line, ensuring options for both style and utility.
Kia is enhancing the driving experience with improved acoustic insulation, thicker glass for quieter interiors, and options for front or all-wheel drive. The Seltos will also feature advanced safety and entertainment systems, including an impressive Harman Kardon audio setup.
The Seltos represents a critical step in Kia’s strategy to broaden its appeal in the competitive SUV segment. With sales expected to commence in 2026, Kia plans to roll out this exciting new model globally, aiming to meet the growing consumer demand for spacious, tech-savvy vehicles.
Stay tuned for further updates on pricing and fuel economy as Kia approaches the launch of this game-changing subcompact SUV. The excitement surrounding the new Seltos is palpable, and it’s clear that Kia is positioning itself to capture a significant share of the market.
