Nicholas Jarecki’s Past Ties to Jeffrey Epstein Uncovered

Filmmaker Nicholas Jarecki had a previously undisclosed relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, revealed through a series of emails dating back to 2009. At that time, Epstein was serving a sentence in Florida for procuring a minor for prostitution. Jarecki’s emails indicate a casual friendship, with Jarecki proposing to meet Epstein upon his release, saying, “Let’s hang out. When are the bracelets off?” Epstein replied, confirming his release date as July 23.

In a follow-up email, Jarecki, who was then the co-screenwriter of The Informers, expressed enthusiasm for Epstein’s return, stating, “Congratulations! How where and when do we celebrate? Say the word and I am there within the day.”

The relationship deepened a year later when Jarecki sought Epstein’s financial backing for his film, Arbitrage, sending him the script. Despite Epstein’s extensive connections, he was not known for his involvement in the film industry. Discussions about financing became strained before the film’s release.

The revelations are significant, given that Jarecki’s father, Henry Jarecki, is associated with Epstein. Henry Jarecki, a psychiatrist and investor, was mentioned in Epstein’s infamous 2003 Birthday Book. In 2024, he faced a lawsuit from a former model alleging that he helped enable Epstein’s trafficking operations. This lawsuit was dropped in April 2025 when the model concluded that Henry Jarecki “did not mean me any harm.”

Further investigation into the Department of Justice’s release of Epstein-related materials did not uncover any explicit communications linking Nicholas Jarecki to Epstein’s illicit activities. However, a March 2003 email revealed a conversation between Jarecki and Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, where Jarecki suggested meeting for drinks.

In a notable exchange on May 2, 2009, during Epstein’s incarceration, Jarecki forwarded a profile of porn star Sasha Grey published in Rolling Stone. He described the article as “excellent” and inquired whether anyone was interested in representing her for legitimate work. Epstein responded, “bring her to florida.” Jarecki’s subsequent question about arranging a plane for Grey raises questions about the intent of the correspondence.

Although Grey transitioned to mainstream film later that year with The Girlfriend Experience, there is no evidence to suggest she was ever aware of Epstein’s actions or was assisted by him in any manner.

After Epstein’s release in September 2009, Jarecki expressed interest in staying at Epstein’s estate in New Mexico, indicating that he might assist with a film involving Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke. In an email, Jarecki wrote, “It’s amazing here. I love it. People are so nice. Thanks so much.”

As 2010 progressed, Jarecki communicated with Epstein regarding the financing of Arbitrage, discussing a potential investment of $2.5 million. However, by July 2011, it became clear that Epstein would not provide funding, as Jarecki informed him that he had made significant changes to the film’s cast. Their last recorded communication dates back to 2012, with no further exchanges found in the DOJ files.

Representatives for Jarecki have not responded to inquiries from The Hollywood Reporter regarding these revelations. The documents suggest a complex web of interactions between individuals associated with Epstein, reflecting a broader narrative of Hollywood’s connections to controversial figures.
