BREAKING: The San Bruno Police Department has confirmed the identification of a newborn boy found dead in 1981, marking a significant breakthrough in this long-cold case. Authorities are urgently seeking the public’s assistance to further their investigation.
Earlier today, police revealed they utilized forensic genealogy—a cutting-edge investigative technology—to establish the baby’s family. This development comes after decades of unanswered questions surrounding the infant’s tragic death. The baby was discovered strangled in a garbage can at Buckeye Park on November 11, 1981, around 4 p.m.
Police reported that the newborn had been deceased for only a few hours when found, having succumbed to strangulation and severe head injuries. Investigators believe he was placed in the garbage can sometime after 11 a.m. that day.
Despite a thorough investigation in the past, including evidence collection that revealed the infant had Type O-positive blood and traces of reddish-brown human hair, authorities were unable to identify the child or the individuals responsible for his death.
“This identification represents a major step forward in the case and has renewed efforts to bring this case to justice,” officials stated in a social media release. They are now calling on anyone with information regarding this case to step forward.
