BREAKING: Sally Cooper, a cherished member of the Santa Cruz community, has passed away at the age of 71. Her family confirmed the news earlier today, marking the end of a life dedicated to love, community service, and family.
Born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, Sally moved to Santa Cruz at the age of nine. She graduated from Soquel High School in 1971, where she met her husband, Kevin Cooper. Together, they enjoyed an extraordinary 54 years of marriage, building a family and impacting countless lives.
Sally was a devoted community member, known for her passion for coaching youth soccer and her years of service in the Soquel School District. Her boundless energy, kindness, and commitment left an indelible mark on students and families alike, making her a beloved figure in the community.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin; sons Chris, Brian, and Jake; daughter Amy; and five cherished grandchildren: Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie. Sally also leaves behind her beloved cat, William, who provided her with comfort and companionship during her life.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.. The family invites all who knew Sally to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the SPCA in Sally’s memory, honoring her love for animals and her compassionate spirit.
