South Euclid Man Arrested for Drunk Driving After Hit-Skip Crash

UPDATE: A 47-year-old man from South Euclid was arrested late last night for drunk driving after fleeing the scene of a crash on Mayfield Road. The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. on December 3, 2023, in front of a Walgreens store, leaving local authorities in urgent response mode.

Witnesses reported that the driver of a GMC Acadia claimed the other vehicle, a white Toyota, had been driven by a man who exhibited signs of intoxication. After the collision, the suspect fled the scene, prompting a swift pursuit by police. Officers intercepted the suspect at 1443 Richmond Road, in front of CVS/Pharmacy, where they discovered the driver was indeed intoxicated. The man was taken into custody for OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) and hit-skip charges after he refused to submit to a breath test.

In a concerning psychiatric situation, police were alerted on December 2 when an emergency call revealed a woman urging a man, her husband, to “put the gun down.” Responding officers quickly located the couple at their home and transported the man, aged 51, to MetroHealth Hospital for evaluation, ensuring immediate intervention in a potentially life-threatening situation.

Lastly, a disturbance was reported on Kenton Circle on December 4. A 56-year-old woman reached out for help regarding her highly intoxicated husband, who was resisting police assistance before declining a ride to a rehabilitation facility. Authorities advised the wife to reach out again if further help was needed.
