Two Hospitalized in Garden City Bar Shooting on New Year’s Day

URGENT UPDATE: Two individuals have been hospitalized following a shooting outside of Rockstarz 2.0, a karaoke bar in Garden City, Michigan, in the early hours of January 1, 2026. The incident occurred just after 4:00 a.m., creating a chaotic start to the New Year as patrons were leaving the bar.

Dispatch audio obtained by 7 News Detroit reveals the frantic moments when first responders arrived to find victims bleeding on the ground. Both victims were quickly transported to a local hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Authorities confirm that a suspect was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on the same day. However, the connection between the suspect and the victims remains unclear. The Garden City Police have cordoned off Ford Road from Farmington to Radcliffe for several hours as they continue to investigate the scene.

Witness Randall McBroome, who left Rockstarz just before the shooting, expressed his shock. “I have no idea what’s going on. What did I miss? Cause I was there until closing,” he stated. McBroome, a regular at the bar, described the New Year’s Eve crowd as unusually large, saying, “The place was just elbow to elbow… it was just like, wow, night-and-day difference from what I’m used to.”

A concerned local resident, who requested anonymity, voiced her fears about the incident’s impact on her family’s safety. “I’ve got kids school age, so this is kinda crazy, and it is concerning,” she remarked.

As this situation remains fluid, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the Garden City Police. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
