Urgent Arrest: Student Found with Guns, Plans Targeting UD Police

UPDATE: A shocking incident unfolded at the University of Delaware as authorities arrested a student with a cache of weapons and disturbing plans targeting the campus police department. Luqmaan Khan, a 25-year-old undergraduate, was taken into custody just before midnight on November 24 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Police were conducting a routine check at a local park when they observed Khan’s white Toyota Tacoma parked after hours. When officers approached, Khan allegedly refused to exit his vehicle and resisted arrest, prompting police to take him into custody.

A search of the Tacoma revealed alarming items: a loaded handgun, extended magazines, body armor, a laptop, and binoculars. Most troubling was a notebook containing detailed drawings of the University of Delaware Police Department. Reports indicate that the notebook included notes on warfare techniques and plans for assaults, alongside a diagram highlighting entry and exit points of the police building.

Officials confirmed that the notebook even mentioned a member of the University of Delaware Police Department by name, intensifying concerns about Khan’s intentions. In a statement, interim president Laura Carlson announced that Khan has been banned from all university campuses as the investigation progresses.

Federal authorities were alerted and subsequently searched Khan’s residence, discovering a handgun equipped with an illegal “switch,” allowing it to function as a machine gun. Following these unsettling discoveries, Khan faces multiple felony weapons charges, including possession of a large-capacity magazine and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He has been transferred to the FBI for further prosecution.

This incident raises significant safety concerns within the University of Delaware community, prompting urgent discussions about campus security and the measures in place to protect students and staff. As investigations continue, the university emphasizes its commitment to safety and vigilance.

The situation remains fluid, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
