UPDATE: A devastating crash in Catawba County has resulted in the loss of life and severe injuries. At approximately 5:30 PM yesterday, a medical emergency led to the tragic accident that claimed the life of 68-year-old Uribe Enedino and left two others in critical condition.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Enedino’s Honda Civic failed to stop at a stop sign on 12th Avenue Drive due to a medical condition. The vehicle collided with a parked car before striking a utility pole, roughly half a mile from Highway 321. Emergency responders pronounced Enedino dead at the scene.
The two passengers, identified as Jose Uribe, 21, and Rosa Uribe, 28, were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital. Notably, Rosa Uribe was seated in the back and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, raising concerns about traffic safety in similar incidents.
