Urgent Tree Removal at Milton’s Bell Memorial Park Starts Dec. 8

UPDATE: Starting December 8, approximately 24 pine beetle-infested trees will be removed from Bell Memorial Park in Milton. The removal was initially set for December 2, but has been postponed to ensure the safety of park visitors.

The infestation is a significant concern, as these trees pose a risk of falling and potentially injuring unsuspecting visitors. The City of Milton emphasizes that this action is crucial to maintain public safety in the park, particularly along the eastern loop trail and behind the sports fields.

The city’s contractor, One Two Tree, will oversee the removal process, which is expected to be completed by December 15, barring any weather-related delays. For the duration of this work, certain areas of the park will be closed to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Park-goers are urged to pay close attention to posted signage and to avoid areas where tree removal activities are taking place. Despite the closures, most of the trail will remain accessible, allowing the community to enjoy the park while ensuring their safety.

Local authorities express appreciation for the community’s understanding during this “sad but necessary step.” The City of Milton acknowledges the emotional impact of losing these trees but prioritizes the health and safety of its residents.

Stay tuned for further updates as this situation develops. For more information, residents can visit the City of Milton’s official website or contact local authorities directly.
