UPDATE: A stunning forest of 200 trees made entirely of canned goods was unveiled at Figueroa Plaza in Ventura on December 5, 2023. This remarkable display, part of Food Share’s 14th Annual CAN-Tree Food Drive, was constructed by dozens of dedicated volunteers to support those in need across Ventura County.
The event kicked off on December 4 and drew the attention of passersby as the community came together for a noble cause. Ranging from humble 3-foot trees to impressive towering structures, the innovative pyramid of cans symbolizes the region’s generosity and commitment to fighting hunger.
The canned goods will be sent directly to the regional food bank for distribution, providing essential support to vulnerable residents. The trees will remain on display until December 6, allowing even more people to appreciate the creativity and community spirit behind this initiative.
Volunteers expressed a deep sense of fulfillment in contributing to this project, with many highlighting the emotional connection they felt while building the trees. “It’s heartwarming to see our community rally together for such an important cause,” said one volunteer at the event.
