“I am honored and humbled to be unanimously selected by the USF Board of Trustees. Serving as USF president would be the greatest honor of my professional life,” Limayem stated. His heartfelt message underscores his deep connection to both USF and the Tampa Bay region, where he has spent a considerable part of his career.

Currently serving as the president of the University of North Florida, Limayem previously held the position of Lynn Pippenger Dean of the Muma College of Business at USF for a decade. His appointment is seen as a pivotal move for USF, which aims to enhance its impact in the rapidly growing region.

The confirmation of Limayem’s presidency is pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors, with a crucial meeting scheduled for November 6, 2023, to finalize this appointment.

Will Weatherford, Chair of the USF Board of Trustees, praised Limayem, stating, “Dr. Moez Limayem is an outstanding leader, who brings a unique combination of deep ties to the University of South Florida and Tampa Bay region.” Weatherford emphasized Limayem’s strong track record in student success, research excellence, and corporate partnerships, positioning him as the ideal leader to drive USF into its next chapter.

Limayem’s selection is expected to resonate well with the university community, which has seen significant growth and transformation in recent years. His vision aligns with USF’s goals for a new on-campus stadium and continued expansion as a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities.
