Violent Fight at Chesterton Party Sends Hosts to Jail

URGENT UPDATE: A violent altercation at a party in Chesterton has landed the hosts behind bars. Keshawn Lamar Stephens, 27, and Tiffany Amber Wilfong, 30, are both facing serious felony charges after a domestic dispute escalated on the night of December 20, 2023.

Authorities confirm that the couple, residing on the 900 block of S. 19th Street, were charged with multiple counts of domestic battery, including Level 5 and Level 6 felonies, due to the presence of a minor during the incident. In a shocking twist, Stephens faces an additional misdemeanor charge for invasion of privacy, violating a court order prohibiting contact with Wilfong.

Witnesses reported seeing Stephens strike Wilfong several times in the head and face as the party, which had been fueled by alcohol, took a violent turn. The Chesterton Police were first alerted to the scene through a 911 hang-up call. Initially, Wilfong denied needing help, but shortly after, she called authorities again, claiming that Stephens had bear-hugged her and that she had stabbed him with scissors in self-defense.

When police arrived for the third time, they discovered a “trail of blood” leading them to an upstairs bathroom, where they found Stephens hiding in a bathtub. Chesterton Police Cpl. Darren Conley reported, “I placed a tourniquet on Keshawn’s arm and he was transported by medics to the hospital for treatment.”

Both individuals were later taken to the Porter County Jail. Wilfong has since posted a $1,500 bond for her release, while Stephens remains behind bars. The emotional toll of this incident is significant, especially considering the minor present during the violent altercation.

As the investigation continues, both Stephens and Wilfong will face the legal consequences of their actions. This developing story raises critical questions about domestic violence and its impact on families and communities. Stay tuned for further updates as more details emerge.
