Virginia QB Chandler Morris Injured, Out for Rest of Game vs. Wake Forest

UPDATE: Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday night’s game against Wake Forest after suffering an injury in the second quarter. Morris was injured while sliding to avoid a tackle, leaving the Cavaliers and their fans in shock.

Coach Tony Elliott confirmed during halftime that Morris would not return, forcing backup Daniel Kaelin to take over. The Cavaliers, currently ranked 12th, entered the game with a strong record of 8-1 overall and 5-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, marking their best start in 35 years.

The injury occurred with Virginia leading 3-0. On a crucial second-and-7, Morris attempted a 6-yard run but was met by a pair of Wake Forest defenders, Travon West and Davaughn Patterson. West was penalized for a personal foul, but no targeting call was made. Morris remained on the field for several minutes before walking off gingerly and subsequently heading to the locker room.

Early reports suggest that the injury is not related to the left shoulder issue that has plagued Morris throughout the season. As a transfer from North Texas, he has significantly impacted the Cavaliers with his leadership and playmaking abilities, helping them achieve a school record for total offense with 700 yards in a previous game against William & Mary.

Fans and analysts will closely monitor the situation as Virginia continues its quest for a strong season. With Morris sidelined, the pressure is now on Kaelin to maintain the momentum and keep the Cavaliers competitive in their pursuit of the Atlantic Coast Conference title.
