UPDATE: The highly anticipated McNeese State Banners Series is set to kick off on March 1, 2026, promising a vibrant season filled with artistic expression that has captivated Southwest Louisiana for 34 years. The opening reception, taking place from 3-5 p.m. at the 1911 Historic City Hall, is free and open to the public, featuring live music, culinary delights, and a showcase of student art.
This year’s lineup is nothing short of extraordinary, featuring a buffet of artistic offerings that span genres from 17th-century classics to contemporary rock and pop. Attendees can also look forward to intellectually stimulating discussions, including a significant panel on the 250-year history of the United States. “The season really is like a buffet,” said Brook Hanemann, director of the Banners Series. “You get a taste of so many different things.”
The opening reception will include live music by Sean Hager, along with a delicious spread of jambalaya and sweets, celebrating the culinary arts. Individual event tickets will be available online and at the door, priced at $20, while McNeese and SOWELA Technical Community College students can attend for free with ID. Membership packages are also available, ranging from $80 to $550, granting access to all events, including the prestigious Rouge et Blanc wine and food event in the fall.
The inaugural event on March 1 will set the tone for a thrilling season that runs until April 30. Highlights include:

– **United States Air Force Concert Band:** March 24, 7 p.m., a free concert featuring patriotic and Broadway classics.
– **Movies Under the Stars:** April 10, 6:30 p.m., a free family film night with refreshments.
This season also includes engaging workshops and discussions, such as a poetry reading by Kevin Thomason on April 26, and a historical panel discussion on April 25 examining America’s journey over the past 250 years.
