BREAKING NEWS: The Colorado High School Activities Association has just announced the all-state girls volleyball teams, with standout players from University and Eaton earning top honors. Delaney Lauer, a sophomore outside hitter for University, is named the Class 4A Player of the Year, while Madi Smith from Eaton secures the 3A Player of the Year title. This recognition comes on the heels of University’s impressive 24-5 season, culminating in a state championship victory on November 15, 2023, at the Denver Coliseum.

Lauer’s outstanding performance this season included leading her team with 402 kills while also securing 272 digs and 34 aces. Her contributions were pivotal in University winning its second state title in program history. Coach Jared Rudiger also received accolades, being recognized as the 4A Coach of the Year.

University’s success is highlighted by Lauer’s senior teammate, Jordan Halley, who was also named to the 4A first team. The runner-up, Windsor, had two first-team selections, including Madelyn Bahnsen and Avery Smiley. Additionally, University junior Livianna Aguilar earned honorable mention status.

On the 3A side, Madi Smith led Eaton to a remarkable 25-4 record and their 11th state title. Smith’s stats are impressive, with 399 kills, 200 digs, and 24 blocks. Joining her on the 3A first team were teammates Chloe Crider and Kaylynn Pardue from Resurrection Christian.

The all-state teams, a collaboration between CHSAANow.com and MaxPreps, are compiled following nominations from leagues, with coaches across the state casting votes for the final selections. Only players receiving first-team all-conference honors are eligible for this prestigious recognition.

With these accolades, the spotlight shines brightly on the talent and hard work of these young athletes. Fans and teammates alike are celebrating these achievements, showcasing the passion and dedication that drives high school volleyball in Colorado.
