Pixar’s “Hoppers” Features Star-Studded Voice Cast in New Adventure

Pixar’s latest animated feature, titled “Hoppers,” is set to hit theaters on March 6, 2024. This film blends science and humor, focusing on a group of scientists who have developed technology allowing them to transfer their minds into robotic animal bodies. The story follows Mabel Tanaka, voiced by Piper Curda, an animal enthusiast who finds herself in a lifelike robotic beaver. Her mission is to communicate with animals and mobilize them against a looming threat to their habitat, spearheaded by the ambitious Mayor Jerry Generazzo, voiced by Jon Hamm.

The voice cast of “Hoppers” features an impressive lineup, including Meryl Streep, who brings to life the Insect Queen, a key figure in the animal kingdom’s fight for survival. Directed by Daniel Chong and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle, the film promises a blend of humor and heartfelt moments, backed by an original score from Mark Mothersbaugh.

Voices Behind the Characters

Curda’s character, Mabel Tanaka, is a 19-year-old with a passion for animals. Curda previously starred in Disney Channel’s “I Didn’t Do It” and “Teen Beach Movie 2.” Her experience adds depth to Mabel’s journey as she navigates life in a robotic beaver.

Adding to the mix is Bobby Moynihan, who voices King George, the charismatic yet insecure beaver monarch. Moynihan is well-known for his nine-season tenure on “Saturday Night Live” and roles in films like “DuckTales” and “Monsters University.”

In a twist of character, Jon Hamm portrays Mayor Jerry Generazzo, a politically savvy and self-serving figure. Hamm’s accolades include an Emmy for his role in “Mad Men”, and his recent appearances in “Fargo” and “The Morning Show.”

A Star-Studded Ensemble

The film’s ensemble cast also features Kathy Najimy as Dr. Sam, Mabel’s biology professor. Najimy is celebrated for her roles across various genres, including “Sister Act” and “Hocus Pocus.”

Dave Franco lends his voice to the Insect King, an ambitious character with a hidden agenda. Franco’s recent credits include “Somebody I Used to Know” and “Now You See Me 3.”

Adding a comedic touch, Aparna Nancherla voices Nisha, Dr. Sam’s loyal colleague. Nancherla is recognized for her voice work in popular animated series such as “Bob’s Burgers” and “BoJack Horseman.”

The dynamic voice of Ego Nwodim brings life to the Fish Queen, a formidable leader in the aquatic realm. Nwodim, known for her time on “Saturday Night Live,” adds depth to the character’s stern demeanor.

Other notable cast members include Melissa Villaseñor as Ellen, a grumpy grizzly bear, and Isiah Whitlock Jr., who voices Bird King before his passing in December 2025. Whitlock, famed for his roles in “The Wire” and collaborations with director Spike Lee, leaves behind a legacy of impactful performances.

As anticipation builds for “Hoppers,” the film is set to deliver a unique blend of humor, adventure, and a call to action regarding environmental concerns. With its all-star cast and engaging plot, Pixar continues to captivate audiences of all ages.
